How much is a Japan SIM card?
Your eSIM costs €1.20 to €28.90, depending on data and validity, which works out at €0.58/GB on the 50 GB plan. No subscription, no hidden fees.
Is it a physical SIM card?
No, it’s an eSIM: a chip already built into your phone, which you add your plan to from the app or with your QR code. Nothing to wait for in the post, nothing to hunt for at the airport.
When does my plan start?
The first time you connect to the Japanese network, not when you buy it. You can buy several days before you fly without losing a single day.
Can I install it before I go?
Yes, and we recommend it: install it at home over WiFi, it takes 1 minute. It connects by itself when you arrive in Japan.
Do I keep my usual number?
Yes. Your usual SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts, and Mobile Companion only handles your data. Turn off data roaming on your usual SIM to avoid roaming charges.
How much data do I need?
For maps, messages and e-mails, 1 to 3 GB is enough for a week. For moderate use, aim for 5 to 10 GB. For video, social media or sharing your connection, go for 20 GB or more.
